Community Grants Information

Food at First received a 2017 community grant to replace the failing bunker storage freezers with new energy efficient, upright storage freezers.  Laurie Henry, SCCF Advisory Board Member, discusses the purchase with Sherry Gehlsen, Patty Yoder, Frances Anderson, and Karen Gerber who are volunteers and staff at Food at First.  Food at First serves 27,000 meals during the year and 42,000 people utilize the food pantry each year.

Community Grant Awards

The Story County Community Foundation will award multiple $6,000 grants for projects that significantly improve or affect the lives of those living in Story County communities.

Grants are made only to nonprofit organizations recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as tax-exempt, nonprofit, public charities under section 501(c)(3) or a "unit of government" under Section 170(c)(1)-agencies that conduct activities to benefit the public at large. These include public schools, state universities, public libraries, and volunteer fire departments. It is possible, if your agency does not have the IRS status, another agency holding that status can serve as a fiscal sponsor.
