Jennifer Garst, Development Director
Jennifer, an Ames resident, joined Story County Community Foundation as part-time Development Director in August 2010. She brings a wealth of experience to the position and looks forward to helping Story County Community Foundation grow its endowments.
Jennifer is actively engaged in the management of her family's banking and farming interests; serving on the boards of three banks in west central Iowa. Formerly Jennifer served as a self-employed development consultant (1 year), Manager of Planned Giving & Constituent Information for Planned Parenthood of the Heartland (5 years), and Assistant Professor of Communication at University of Maryland (4 years).
Jennifer is on the Board of Directors of Iowa Environmental Council, Whiterock Conservancy, and Adventure Cycling Association, a national bike travel organization. She formerly served on the boards of Mid-Iowa Planned Giving Council and LEAVE A LEGACY® Iowa. She holds a Ph.D. in social psychology from Michigan State University and a B.A. from Brown University.
