The Legacy Society of the Story County Community Foundation (SCCF)
recognizes those caring individuals who have created a legacy for our
community through establishment of a permanent fund at SCCF or who have
created an estate plan provision benefitting SCCF or one of its funds (will, trust,
insurance policy, retirement plan, charitable gift annuity, charitable remainder
trust, etc.) Honorary membership in the Legacy Society is our way of
expressing our deep gratitude for personal commitment to creating a brighter
future for the citizens of Story County.
Too often, legacy gifts are unrecognized because they come at the end of a
donor's life. The Legacy Society provides a way for us to recognize and thank legacy donors during their lifetime.
Involvement in the Legacy Society gives the opportunity to enjoy the company of others who care about leaving a legacy to protect and strengthen Story County. Members are invited to all SCCF events and are recognized in SCCF publications.
Legacy Society members may choose to remain anonymous. However, public participation in the Legacy Society can be an inspirational experience, and may encourage others to look toward the future and how they too can have an enduring impact on the causes they care about.
For those who have an estate plan provision benefitting SCCF or one of its funds only a statement of intent to leave a gift is required in order to be a Legacy Society member. No documentation of gift amount or type is necessary. Legacy Society members may designate the use of their future gifts, or may leave the distributions to the discretion of the SCCF's Board of Directors. Furthermore, a future gift may be used to establish a new fund or may be added to any of SCCF's existing funds.
